Tartan reigns as runners hit New York

Around 11,000 runners were joined by pipers, drummers and dancers in New York’s Central Park for the annual Scotland Run.

Thousands of supporters came to cheer on those taking part in the 10k event which sold out in record-breaking time this year.

The race, on Saturday, was held as part of the city’s Scotland Week programme of events, a celebration of all things Scottish.

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: “There was a fantastic atmosphere.”
