Teachers’ marathon effort

A GROUP of 20 teachers and classroom assistants from an Edinburgh school will take part in the gruelling Amsterdam Marathon tomorrow in aid of charity.

The staff from Craigmount High School will split up to take on a marathon, half marathon and 8km run in a bid to raise £5000 for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation (SKFF).

English teacher Dougie Arbuckle, 37, from Carrick Knowe, said: “We chose to raise money for them after the daughter of one of our colleagues was taken ill. The staff at the hospital worked hard to find the cause of the illness.

“Throughout this period, the Sick Kids Hospital’s support was crucial in helping young Megan recover and also in offering comfort and advice to her parents.”
