Team tackles 96-mile hike

FIVE friends are aiming to raise vital funds for the country’s veterans by tackling the West Highland Way – with one of them attempting the route in a wheelchair.

Gordon Easton, Antony Hoggan, Graeme Grant, Paul McIvor and Jim Easton will take on the 96-mile challenge from June 2 in aid of the veterans’ charity Erskine.

Jim, 30, suffers from Osteogenesis imperfecta, a condition which causes brittle bones and confines him to a wheelchair.

Gordon, from Armadale in West Lothian, said: “Gerald Simonds Healthcare have loaned us an off-road wheelchair attachment for the duration of our challenge, which will help things along a great deal.”
