Teen attacked and threatened with knife in robbery attempt

A TEENAGER was attacked and threatened with a knife in an early morning robbery attempt.

Police are today appealing for witnesses following the incident which happened around 1.50am yesterday in the Craigleith area.

Police said a 17-year-old was walking in Craigleith Hill Road near to the junction with Queensferry Road, at the Esso Garage, when a man in his 30s approached him.

He was punched and kicked, threatened with a knife and then the man attempted to steal his wallet.

A member of the public stopped to assist the injured man and police were called.

A police spokesman said today: “Officers are now keen to speak to anyone who can assist with their inquiries and, in particular, the member of the public who stopped and provided assistance to the man, by taking him home.”

The suspect is described as white, 35 to 39 years old, average height with a heavy build, very short grey hair / bald and a local Edinburgh accent.

He was wearing a dark coloured T-shirt, with short sleeves.
