Teen steals from fire engine as crews fight blaze

POLICE are hunting a teenager who stole heavy duty bolt cutters from a fire engine as the crew tackled a bonfire.

The yellow 3ft long piece of equipment was taken at around 9.30pm on Bonfire Night while firefighters extinguished a blaze on grass near Balmwell Avenue, Gracemount.

The suspect is described as white, 14-17 years old, 5ft 6in, stocky build and wearing a grey tracksuit. stole a Yellow 3 foot pair of heavy duty bolt cutters from the fire engine.

A police spokesman said: “This is a vital piece of fire equipment and the community officers at Howdenhall are appealing for further witnesses to the crime or information that would assist in the return of the cutters.”
