A TEENAGE girl was held captive by knife-wielding thieves during a robbery in her Burdiehouse home.

The 15-year-old answered the door to man holding a knife who forced his way into the property on Southhouse Crescent before stealing money and jewellery.

The girl was not injured in the robbery which took place at around 10.30pm on Saturday night.

Detective Constable Dominic Cox, who is leading the enquiry, called on the public to help solve this “isolated and unusual incident”.

“I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Southhouse Crescent between 10pm and 11pm on Saturday night and who saw anyone acting suspiciously and fitting that description, to contact Police Scotland immediately on 101 or tell us anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The balaclava-clad culprit is described as being white, in his 20s and around 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 tall.

He has a heavy build and was wearing black trousers and a black top, possibly with paint staining.

He left the house carrying a large clear or white coloured bag as well as a dark coloured rucksack.
