Three teenagers were forced to run for their lives after a driver deliberately chased them in his car – on a pavement.
The friends, who want to remain anonymous, were walking home from the city centre to Blackford around 4am on Sunday morning.
As they made their way down Kilgraston Road, the women were passed by a silver car travelling beyond the speed limit.
It then turned and raced towards them – forcing the trio to jump to safety over a wall.
But their ordeal was far from over – as minutes later the male motorist made a second attempt to mow them down.
One of the 18-year-olds said: “It was absolutely terrifying.
“We just decided to walk back to Blackford because it was such a short distance from where we were, we thought we would be safe – especially because there was three of us.
“We became aware of a car driving really fast along the road.
“At first it went past us, and then turned around, and it looked like it was coming towards us.
“We jumped over a little wall into a cul-de-sac where some flats are to avoid it as it was swerving all over the place.
“We weren’t sure if the driver was drunk.”
The women then came face-to-face with the driver in the housing development – and were forced to clamber back on to Kilgraston Road.
One said: “The car turned into the bit where we were, so we ran back out on to the pavement of the main road.
“I can’t really remember much, it was such a blur, I just remember being so scared.
“It was probably only taking place over a few minutes – but it felt like forever.”
After making their way back out on to the main road, the man – and his female passenger – made another attempt to run the women over.
The 18-year-old said: “One of my friends said the female passenger was yelling something out the window, but I was so scared I was just concentrating on what we were going to do next.
“One of my friends started to run and the car swerved right at her. It was so close to hitting her, I could barely watch.
“I remember her running along the pavement and it went up onto the pavement behind her.
“We managed to get away from the car, and hide behind a nearby garage where we called a taxi to take us home but we were all in so much shock.
“Thinking about it now we should have phoned the police immediately rather than waiting till we got home, but all we were thinking about was our safety.”
One of the other girls, who was chased along the pavement, said: “The car was behind me on the pavement as I ran to try and get away from it. I remember looking over my shoulder and it being right there.”
A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police received a report of a silver car being driven in a dangerous manner in Kilgraston Road around 4.40am on Sunday, causing three women to take evasive action.
“Anyone with information about this is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
