Theft fears over drugs

A WARNING has been issued amid fears that thieves may have taken prescription drugs from a bag mistakenly left outside a pharmacy overnight.

The waste bag was left outside Boots Pharmacy in Main Street, Davidson’s Mains.

Director of public health and health policy for NHS Lothian, Dr Alison McCallum, said: “NHS Lothian wish to alert the public to the potential circulation of waste medicines.

“If anyone is offered or finds any labelled or unlabelled medicines they should hand them into their local police station or pharmacy immediately. Taking such medicines without a prescription could result in unwanted and serious adverse effects.”
