Three people targeted in ‘vicious’ attack in Leith

POLICE are hunting two men who carried out a “vicious” attack on a group of three people while they were walking home.

It happened at about 1.50am today in Restalrig Road, near to Leith Links, Edinburgh.

Two men and a woman were walking home when two other men attacked them.

One of the men sustained a serious leg injury in the attack and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where his condition has been described as stable.

Both suspects are white, aged between 18 and 20, around 6ft 2ins and with slim builds. They are both wearing dark suits with white shirts and black ties.

One of the men had dark brown hair while the other has shaved blond hair.

Detective Inspector John Kavanagh said: “This was an unprovoked and vicious attack on three people which has resulted in one of the group suffering a serious leg injury.

“We are eager to trace the two suspects as a matter of urgency. Anyone who recognises their description, or was in the area at the time of the attack, is asked to contact police immediately.

“Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
