A THUG slashed a man who told him the off-road motorbike he wanted to buy had already been sold.

Derek Lamont, 45, became “agitated” after learning he couldn’t have the vehicle and started an argument in Bruce Adams’ kitchen.

Mr Adams picked up a knife in a bid to “ward off or intimidate” Lamont, but dropped the blade in the ensuing struggle.

Lamont picked the knife up and said: “You pulled a f****** knife on me. I’ll start sticking it to you”, before cutting him above the eye and in his thigh.

Mr Adams lost a litre of blood and was left scarred for life after the attack. Livingston Sheriff Court heard that he needed eight stitches in a three-inch cut above his eye and a further three stitches in a stab wound in his thigh.

Lamont, of Charles Crescent, Bathgate, pleaded guilty to striking his victim with the knife and hitting him over the head with a bottle on October 26, 2012.

Sheriff Susan Baird today called for reports and told Lamont he will be sentenced later.
