A GANG of thugs attacked and robbed a man and a teenage boy on the same night.
Two of the attackers were placed on Community Payback Orders and ordered to pay compensation after a sheriff slammed their “serious criminal records”.
James Hogg, 23, from West Pilton Place, and Billy Duncan, 26, of Dunsmuir Court, admitted carrying out the attacks on October 18 last year.
Another man – 25-year old Jamie McCormack of Stenhouse Crescent – also admitted his involvement and will be sentenced later.
In the first incident, a man was attacked and robbed of his wallet just after leaving a takeaway in West Granton Road.
Shortly afterwards, the boy was kicked and punched and had his mobile phone stolen in the same street.
At Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, Hogg was told to carry out 75 hours of unpaid work and pay £200 compensation to the man.
Duncan was given 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay the boy £250.
Sheriff Frank Crowe said: “This aggressive, nasty behaviour has to stop.”
