I've known Cardinal O'Brien for over 30 years and always found him to be a most likeable and hardworking person.
During his time as leader of the Catholic Church he not only raised the profile of Catholicism but also raised the profile of other faiths in Scotland. He resigned under controversy and I hope he will also be remembered for the good he did not only in Scotland but also in many other parts of the world.
