Tory leadership hopeful in hospital

TORY leadership candidate Jackson Carlaw has been taken into hospital.The West of Scotland MSP became ill yesterday.

Now he is expected to have surgery to remove his appendix.

A spokesman for Mr Carlaw said he was expected to make a “full and speedy recovery”.

He is up against fellow MSPs Ruth Davidson, Murdo Fraser and Margaret Mitchell in the race to succeed Annabel Goldie,

The result of the ballot is to be announced on 4 November.
