MOTORISTS faced rush-hour disruption on the A7 out of Edinburgh this morning after a two-car crash.

The busy road was closed southbound between the Melville Dykes Road roundabout and the Hardengreen roundabout after the accident around 5.30am.

Police said the drivers of both the cars involved in the crash were taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. No details were available about the seriousness of their injuries.

Lothian Buses diverted their Number 29 service during the closure.

Edinburgh Travel News reported the accident had been cleared and the road reopened around 7.20am, with buses returning to normal.
