THE CITY is to introduce a temporary bus service to reduce parking and traffic pressures in South Queensferry during the closure of the Forth Road Bridge.

The council has chartered a small coach service to run on a circular route between Dalmeny Rail Station and various points in the town throughout the week, beginning on Monday.

The service will operate on weekdays from 5.30am to 8am and 4pm to 7pm and will stop at Dalmeny Station, Station Road, The Loan, Ferrymuir, Builyeon Road, Bo’ness Road, High Street and Hawes Car Park.

The route, which passes Hawes Pier and through South Queensferry’s centre, was created in collaboration with Queensferry and District Community Council and South Queensferry Business Improvement District (BID).

Transport Convener, Councillor Lesley Hinds, said: “Throughout the closure of the Forth Road Bridge, we have been making every effort to minimise disruption for commuters, visitors and residents.

“By introducing parking restrictions near Dalmeny Station alongside a shuttle bus around the town, we want to avoid parking chaos by encouraging people boarding the train to park elsewhere.

“The new shuttle bus will also make it easier for those travelling by train to Dalmeny to sample some of the festive cheer South Queensferry’s businesses have to offer.”
