Road accident in Gorebridge leaves man in '˜serious condition'

Police in Midlothian are investigating following a serious road traffic collision on the B704, at the junction of Carrington Road, Gorebridge.

The incident happened around 12.50pm on Wednesday, March 15, when a black Ducati Diavel Stada was involved in a collision with a Fiat 500L.

The 48-year-old male rider sustained a serious leg and back injuries. He was taken by the Scottish Ambulance Service to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment, where he is detained in a serious condition. The 45-year-old female driver was uninjured.

The road was closed for around two hours but later reopened while initial collision investigations took place. Enquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.

Inspector Richard Latto of Lothians and Scottish Borders’ Road Policing Unit said: “This is a serious collision, which could result in life-changing injuries for the rider.

“We are investigating this incident and are eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

“I would urge anyone who was on the B704 around lunchtime on Wednesday, March 15, and has information, to get in touch with police immediately.”
