Car overturns in late night collision on West Approach Road

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses after a serious crash on the West Approach Road that left one car on its roof.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11:10pm on Sunday after reports that a car had crashed on the West Approach Road.

The vehicle, which had been heading westbound, was found overturned after colliding with railings to the rear of Fountain Park.

One man was checked over at the scene for injuries. He was not taken to hospital.

West Approach Road was closed temporarily last night as a clean-up operation got under way.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We were called at around ten past eleven on Sunday evening to the West Approach Road to reports of one vehicle overturned following a collision.

“Ambulance a fire were called as a precaution. One man was checked over but didn’t require hospital treatment.”

A spokesperson for Road Policing Scotland added: “One vehicle left the road and collided with a railing. Thankfully no serious injury. Enquiries are on going in respect of the vehicle’s manner of driving.”
