Driver skids off wet road

A DRIVER has been treated in hospital after his car skidded off a road in heavy rain.

Fire crews and paramedics rushed to the A68 junction of the B6457 at Blackshiels Farm, Pathhead, just after 6.20pm yesterday.

Firefighters said the male driver lost control on the wet road, with his vehicle skidding off and tumbling 15 feet down a nearby embankment.

The driver was released after his seatbelt was cut. He was handed over to paramedics, having sustained cuts to his head.

He was later taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
