Fire at a property on Craigentinny Road prompts road closure and diversions

A fire at a property on Craigentinny Road today (Friday June 11) has resulted in a road closure between Craigetinny Avenue and Restalrig Drive, with emergency services in attendance.

Footage on Snap Map showed smoke billowing from a first floor flat window, with several fire engines and emergency service staff in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.50pm on Friday, 11 June, we received a report of a fire at a property on Craigentinny Road in Edinburgh."Emergency services are in attendance and the road is currently closed from Craigentinny Avenue to Restalrig Drive."

Lothian Buses reported that a number of its Edinburgh bus routes have been affected by the closure of Craigentinny Road and traffic diversions are in place due to the closure of Craigentinny Road in Edinburgh.

These include the 19, 25, 14 and 41, with increased traffic in the area also resulting in delays.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for a statement.
