Five in hospital after M8 crash

Five men have been taken to hospital following a crash between two vans on Scotland’s busiest motorway during rush hour.

Traffic was backed up on the M8 during rush hour this morning after the collision, which partially blocked the road.

Emergency services were called to the crash on at 7.10am, just before the roundabout at junction one, Hermiston Gait, heading into Edinburgh.

The men in the Citroen Berlingo and Ford Transit vans suffered only minor injuries, police said.

The crash caused huge delays to commuters. Motorists faced delays of about an hour following the accident

The accident, which has since been cleared, also had an impact on traffic coming into the city from the M9.
