Wide-ranging changes to how people move around the city were announced by Edinburgh City Council last week, including plans to shut roads, introduce cycle lanes and widen pavements.

As part of the plans, the council released details of which streets they plan to look at first and potential time-frames for the schemes to be implemented.

The projects listed must go through a design and risk assessment process which could lead to them changing completely, the council said, but these are seen as measures “likely to be appropriate”.

Below is a list of all the schemes and streets listed by the council:

Short term proposals (implemented by the end of May)

- Dundee Street at Fountainbridge and Viewport: Installation of bus gates at Fountainbridge, closure of Viewforth, temporary cycle segregation on Dundee Street

- Braid Hills Drive/Road: Investigating options to increase space for exercise in this area

- East Fettes Avenue: Road closure

- Stanley Street and Hope Street: Road closure at a specific point on the road

- Arboretum Place: Road closure at a specific point on the road

- Curriehill Road: Road closure just north of Curriehill station car park

- Warriston Road: Road closure north of the entrance to St Marks Park

- Cairnmuir Road: Road closure

Short term to medium term (implemented by the end of June) proposals

- Ravelston Dykes: Investigating options for improved access to Corstorphine Hill

- Ravelston Terrace: Road closure at a specific point on the road

- Old Dalkeith Road: Temporary cycle segregation

Medium term proposals

- Citywide: Automatic green-man phase at selected traffic lights

- Crewe Road South: Temporary cycle segregation

- Crewe Road South/Orchard Brae/Crewe Toll: Improve cycle measures at roundabouts

- West Coates from Wester Coates Road to Magdala Crescent: Temporary cycle segregation

- West Harbour Road: Temporary cycle segregation

Medium to longer term (implemented in July or later) proposals

- Citywide: Reduce pedestrian waiting times

- Citywide: Road closures in neighbourhoods to reduce through traffic

- Victoria Street: Road closure and reduced parking

- Cockburn Street: Road closure and reduced parking

Longer term proposals

- Citywide: Removal of bus stops (rationalisation)

- Bank Street: Installation of a bus gate

- North Bridge (or alternative location on): Installation of a bus gate

- Market Street: Installation of a bus gate

- East Princes Street: Installation of a bus gate

- Waverley Bridge: Road closure and bus gate

- Canongate: Installation of a bus gate or other restrictions

- Minto Street/Bridges corridor: Temporary footway widening

- George IV Bridge: Temporary footway widening and cycle-segregation

- Several streets including Morningside Road, Easter Road, Gorgie/Dalry, Great Junction St, The Shore: Temporary footway widening or more space created for businesses

- Gilmerton Road: Low-cost cycle segregation

- Mount Vernon and Kingston Avenue: Road closure

- Liberton Road, Craigmillar Park, Minto Street: 24 hour bus lane with parking and loading restrictions

- Milton Road, Seafield Road, Portobello Road, Telford Road: Temporary cycle segregation
