Major delays as thick fog blankets Edinburgh and Lothians at rush-hour

Slow-moving traffic on M8, M9 and A720

COMMUTERS face delays this morning as thick fog descended on the Lothians.

Slow-moving traffic was reported on major routes including the M8 and M9.

Cameras captured long lines of traffic on the M8 at junctions 2 to 4 as well as junction 1a of the M9.

There were similar scenes on the A720 Millerhill to Sheriffhall and Lasswade.

Drivers making their way across the Forth road bridges also faced delays.
