Police probe ‘dangerous’ lorry video

POLICE are studying footage of a trucker caught on camera almost wiping out five cars as he carries out a “suicidal” overtaking move.

Dashboard footage captured the 44-ton Iceland lorry racing towards a bend on the wrong side of the road.

The lorry tries to overtake a second vehicle at the bend.

The HGV driver is then seen to slam on the brakes before trying desperately to cut back in — only narrowly missing the car he’s overtaking — before swerving out and forcing three oncoming cars and a van to career onto a verge to avoid a head-on crash.

The driver then squeezes through the gap on the rainy A-road — thought to be the A706 between Breich in West Lothian and Forth, Lanarkshire - before roaring away from the mayhem.

Film of the crazed move was posted on Facebook by Conrad Burt last month and has since been viewed more than 445,000 times.

Conrad, 67, from Falkirk, had been driving behind the truck at 45mph in his camper van with wife Irene.

He wrote: “The Iceland lorry tried to push me off the road then tried to wipe out other road users, he did not stop and was going too fast to even try to do anything about it.

“It was close to a ‘makers moment’ for the two of us.”
