TICKETS to climb to the top of the Forth Road Bridge next summer are being offered to Edinburgh residents at a
discounted price of £50.

People interested in completing the climb to mark the 50th anniversary of the bridge’s construction can apply for the cut-price tickets through a public ballot.

The ballot will open at 10am tomorrow and close at 5pm on October 21.

Tickets will be limited to two for each application, with the offer only open to people with EH and KY postcodes.

The cost of climbing to the top of the structure will otherwise be £120.

Up to 2014 tower-top climbs will be offered in total as part of next year’s Forth Bridges Festival. Trips will be run every weekend from July 19 to August 23 next year.

Forth Estuary Transport Authority convener Lesley Hinds said: “The bridge plays a big part in the lives of people living either side of the Forth Estuary, so we felt it was only appropriate to give those people something extra special through this ballot.”
