Scotrail to increase carriages for Scottish Cup final day

AN EXTRA 11,000 seats will be laid on by ScotRail to transport fans from Edinburgh to the Hibs v Hearts Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park, in Glasgow, on 19 May, the train operator announced today.

Additional carriages will be added to more than 50 trains on three routes between the two cities - via Shotts, Falkirk and Bathgate.

Queuing systems will operate at Waverley and Haymarket stations, directing fans onto the next Glasgow-bound train, Longer trains will also operate between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida (for Hearts fans) and King’s Park (for Hibs fans), near the stadium.

ScotRail managing director Steve Montgomery said: “We are ready to welcome thousands of extra passengers on board for what is an extraordinary occasion.

“Our plans ensure we will accommodate as many fans as possible. We want them to have a great day out at Hampden, the first time the teams have met in a Scottish Cup Final since 1896.”
