Truly Scrumptious picks up Confetti Award for cake design

THE best cake designer and retailer of the year in Scotland is located at The Cross in Linlithgow, according to customers.

Truly Scrumptious picked up a respected accolade, proving it is one of the best cake shops in the country.

Customers nominated the shop for a Confetti Award and Truly Scrumptious made the shortlist in the cake designer and retailer category.

Sally Macintosh, 32, who has been with the shop for nearly a year and deals with the sales side of the business, was surprised to hear the shop had been nominated.

She said: “It was a nice shock to find out what our customers had done for us.

“It shows how popular we are in Linlithgow and beyond.”

Brides and grooms who had purchased from the cake shop were interviewed and samples were sent to judges before the big awards night in the Crown Plaza in Glasgow.

Up against nine other bakeries, Truly Scruamptious was crowned winner and owner Susan Archibald could not believe it.

She said: “I am so proud of all the team. The shop is not just about decorating cakes but the whole experience from when customers walk in the door to leaving with a cake.

“The award is also great for Linlithgow. The more coverage our shop gets the more chance people will come to the town and discover the excellent shops that Linlithgow has to offer.”

Truly Scrumptious went viral recently after it created two wedding cakes in the shape of the Kelpies and at the moment it has a Star Wars-themed window.

Truly Scrumptious was up against nine other shops in the Cake Designer and Retailer of the Year category.

Nominees were Cakeonelli, Cakes by Fiona Bird, Castle Cakes, Liggy’s Cakes, McCarlie’s Cakes & Confectionery, Sprinkles On Top, Sugar & Spice, Tilly Makes Cake, Truly Scrumptious and Vivacious Cakes.

Other categories included Accessory Supplier of the Year, Independent Caterer of the Year, Ceremony Entertainer of the Year, Reception Entertainer of the Year, Florist of the Year, Glitz and Glamour Award, Men’s Outfitter of the Year, Hairdresser of the Year, Make-up Artist of the Year, Jeweller of the Year, Wedding Outfitter of the Year, Photographer of the Year and many more.
