Two-day plan for market

The Edinburgh Market on Leith Street is to open on both Saturdays and Sundays during August to capitalise on the Festival crowds.

Organisers are looking for traders and charities to take part in the market and say that during last summer’s Festival event, the average footfall was 10,000 people per day.

Traders must have public liability insurance and food hygiene certification if necessary.

A meeting for the regular market traders, which operates from 10am to 3pm on Saturdays, will be held on May 12 at 4pm, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

Stalls at the market this week will include Cedar Cottage Country Foods, Planet Soap, Tall Paul Records and Breadshare Bakery.
