Two men charged over offensive chanting

TWO men have been arrested and charged over alleged offensive chanting at last month’s Hearts and Celtic match.

An 18-year-old man from Edinburgh and a 19-year-old man from Glasgow were arrested on Wednesday during a joint operation led by the Football Coordination Unit for Scotland involving the Lothian and Borders, Strathclyde and British Transport forces.

It follows reported incidents during the match at Tynecastle on February 8. Both men were released on undertaking and are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later this month. Police said further inquiries are ongoing to identify others suspected of similar activity.

Superintendent David Carradice said: “Every Scottish Force will continue to fully investigate any complaints of anti-social behaviour and disorder.”
