AN elderly man and a woman were treated for smoke inhalation following a flat fire in East Lothian yesterday.

The fire broke out in a third- floor flat in Bay View, Port Seton, at about 5pm. A man, thought to be 80 years old, and a woman aged around 45 were treated by paramedics at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said: “The fire was extinguished prior to our arrival and all persons were accounted for. We had two breathing apparatus in use for venting purposes.”
