TWO women have been rushed to hospital after being knocked down by a car at the bottom of Leith Walk.
The incident, which happened at around 6.30pm opposite the Santander bank, is understood to have involved a Honda Civic.
The matter is currently being dealt with by police and ambulance services.
The north end of the road between the Foot of the Walk and Castle Bank Terrace was closed while investigations were carried out.
Both women - one who is elderly, has suffered back and leg injuries - have been taken by ambulance to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police are currently in attendance on Leith Walk after two women were involved in a road traffic collision at around 6:30pm today.
“The north end of road between Foot of the Walk and Castle Bank Terrace, has been closed and diversions are currently in place while collision investigations are carried out.
“Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact police on 101.
