Victim kicked by muggers as he lay on the ground

A MAN suffered a serious head injury after being repeatedly kicked by a trio of muggers as he lay helpless on the ground.

The 21-year-old victim was walking along Dalmeny Street towards Leith Walk when he was grabbed from behind and forced to the ground by the men, who began kicking him to the head and body.

After a few minutes, the victim handed over his possessions and two of the suspects made off up Buchanan Street, while the other headed towards Albert Street via Sloan Street. The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he was treated for a serious head injury following the incident at around 6.30pm on Thursday.

The first suspect is described as white, 17 to 19 years old, of a slim build and wearing a red hooded top.

The second and third suspects are described as white, 21-years-old with slim builds and wearing dark hooded tops with the hoods over their heads.
