Video and pictures show scene as fire breaks out in Edinburgh flat with firefighters, police and ambulance crews attending

A fire broke out on Tuesday in a flat in the west of the city.

Three fire appliances were sent to the property in Downfield Place in Dalry along with police and the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) at around 2pm.

Pictures sent to the Evening News showed fire crews in attendance along with the SAS incident response vehicle.

Police also sealed off the street and images showed broken windows in a first floor property.

Another picture showed an orange material of some kind coming from a window which may have been used to help people escape the building.

Both the police and fire service confirmed there were no reports of any injuries.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.51pm on Tuesday, April 21 to reports of a fire within a flat on Downfield Place in Edinburgh.“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene and firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.“No persons were injured as a result of the fire.“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

The fire service and police have been asked for more details about how the fire started and whether there were any suspicious circumstances.
