Viking find floats boat of historians

Archaeologists have discovered the first fully intact Viking boat burial site on the UK mainland – dating back more than 1000 years.

Project co-director Dr Hannah Cobb unveiled this striking iron sword yesterday, which was part of the find. The artefacts are being stored in Edinburgh by CFA Archaeology.

The grave, on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, West Scotland, is believed to be from the 10th Century AD.
