Wage boost for Capital

Wage inflation has been stronger in Edinburgh than anywhere else in Scotland.

A new report produced by Bank of Scotland shows that the fastest rates of wage inflation for both temporary and permanent workers were in Edinburgh.

The strongest growth in availability of staff was in Glasgow and Aberdeen, while Dundee recruitment agencies posted the strongest rise in permanent staff placements during September.

Donald MacRae, chief economist at Bank of Scotland, said: “These data show a welcome further improvement in the Scottish labour market in September, with Scotland outperforming the UK for the sixth successive month.

“However, the rate of improvement has slowed to its weakest for eight months.”
