Warning on quieter cars

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to highlight the potential danger of electric and hybrid vehicles to visually impaired people.

Guide Dogs fears the risks will increase as quieter vehicles become more commonplace, and wants these types of vehicle to be fitted with artificial engine noises so pedestrians can hear them approaching.

Supporting the campaign, Midlothian MP David Hamilton said: “Quiet vehicles pose a danger to all pedestrians.”
