Water chiefs’ warning over big freeze

SCOTTISH Water is urging customers to get ready for the cold winter weather.

Freezing weather over the last two winters has caused severe and costly damage to water pipes and homes.

To avoid similar problems this year, the company has launched a campaign to encourage customers to follow a winter code, which will help them protect pipes, be prepared, and heat, insulate and protect their home.

It is also urging businesses, agents, landlords and the owners of holiday homes to take steps to heat, insulate and protect any vacant properties.
