Arthur's Seat rescue: emergency services respond to incident at Edinburgh park

A person has been taken to hospital after suffering an injury at Arthur’s Seat.

Photographs of the scene show paramedics crowded around a patient who is believed to have hurt themselves while sledging in Holyrood Park this afternoon.

One witness to the incident said he believes a girl injured her leg while sliding down a hill at the Edinburgh beauty spot at about 3.30pm on Wednesday.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 15:23 to attend an incident at Arthurs Seat, Edinburgh. A range of resources were sent to the scene and the patient was conveyed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”

The park has been a popular spot for sledging and other winter sports as the Capital woke up to a fresh blanket of snow this morning.

Yellow weather warnings remain in place for most parts of eastern Scotland until the end of the week.

The wintry weather has caused disruption to travel in the Capital, including several incidents where bus drivers have struggled to make it up some of the city’s steep roads.
