Corstorphine Hill fire: cause of blaze at Edinburgh beauty spot unknown

The cause of a fire that ripped through an Edinburgh park remains unknown.

Crews tackled a fire that spread across about 50m2 of gorse at Corstorphine Hill at about 8pm on Saturday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has confirmed no-one was injured in the incident.

Locals in the area described the fire as “huge” and several images of the flames have been shared across social media.

The blaze has since been extinguished, however, it’s unclear what caused the fire to break out.

An SFRS spokeswoman said: “We attended at Corstorphine Hill and the fire is now extinguished.

“Two appliances attended at the height of the incident.”

No further investigation into the cause of the fire will be made, it is understood
