But the next few days of June are forecast to see a change in conditions as heavy downpours are forecast to hit the city.

Wednesday (3 June)

Rain is set to ease off in most parts of the country on Wednesday, with cloudy conditions throughout most of the day.

The Met Office said: “A few sunny interludes towards the west coast, but for most, a cloudy day, and in the east there will be a little light rain. Much cooler especially in the east.”

Edinburgh will be cloudy throughout the day, but a lot cooler than Tuesday, with temperatures dropping to 12C during the day, with an overnight temperature of 8C.

The Met Office UK outlook for this weekend forecasts it to be “rather cool with a shift to a more changeable regime”.

Edinburgh is set to see light showers throughout most of the day on Saturday (6 June), with a peak temperature of 12C.

Sunday (7 June), will be cloudy throughout most of the day, but will remain dry, with highs of 14C.

Long-term forecast

Looking further ahead, there seems to be a continuation of further outbreaks of rain or showers, but there is uncertainty with this.

Longer, drier and brighter spells could develop generally towards mid-June, especially across northern and western areas.
