Web call for finance as a career choice

PEOPLE in Edinburgh looking for a new career are being urged to take part in a new initiative designed to attract people to the financial services industry.

There are 35,628 people working in the industry in the Capital and a new website has been launched to encourage even more people to look towards the sector as a potential career path.

The website was created by Skills Development Scotland, whose chief executive Damien Yeates was among those on the Skills Gateway group set up to take the initiative forward.

The Gateway is chaired by David Thorburn, chief executive of Clydesdale Bank, and members include senior staff from institutions such as RBS, Lloyds, Tesco Bank, Standard Life and Citi.

Mr Thorburn said: “The public might imagine that these are mundane jobs, but the new re:Think website shatters that view.”
