Cake lovers can grab a free sweet treat today as popular cake shop Mimi's Bakehouse will dish out 250 cupcakes on George Street.

To celebrate the second birthday of on-demand food delivery service Deliveroo in the city, cupcakes will be handed out to lucky passers-by on George Street from midday until stocks run out.

The delivery service is also offering free deliveries on all orders today to celebrate turning two.

Deliveroo general manager Caroline Hazlehurst said: “We’re excited to be celebrating our 2nd birthday by offering our customers a delicious cupcake in true birthday style, courtesy of our longstanding restaurant partner, Mimi’s Bakehouse.

“We’re honoured to work with the very best local restaurants in the city alongside national favourites too. We aim to continue to provide the best service possible for our Edinburgh customers, riders and restaurant partners.”

Deliveroo works with over 200 restaurants in Edinburgh, 75 percent of which are independent including BURGER, Kenji Sushi, Boozy Cow, Feed and Sushiya.
