Witness appeal after woman robbed while walking in city

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed in the Capital.

The incident happened around 8.45pm on Thursday in Infirmary Street. The 20-year-old was walking alone in the area when a man approached and grabbed hold of her wrist before demanding money. He then made off with cash before the victim alerted police.

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall with a slim build and short dark hair. He was wearing dark-coloured jeans and a dark jumper and spoke with a foreign accent.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was understandably shaken by this robbery, but thankfully she was not injured.

“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity is asked to contact police.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who recognises the description of the suspect.”
