Woman, 95, in fire rescue

A 95-YEAR-OLD woman had to be rescued after a chip pan fire broke out in her sheltered housing home.

The fire service was alerted by a fire alarm at 10.10pm last night, at the Well Wynd sheltered housing unit in Tranent.

When they arrived at the scene, they led the pensioner from the property and she was given oxygen.

The woman was checked over by an ambulance crew, but she declined hospital treatment.

Firefighters, who had been called from Tranent and Musselburgh, had left the scene by 10:30pm.
