A WOMAN caused £75,000 worth of damage after setting fire to her council flat – because she wanted a new home.
Tracey Henderson, 46, was jailed for 18 months on Tuesday after admitting wilfully setting fire to the flat in Northfield Drive on August 17.
Fiscal Depute Lewis Crosbie told Edinburgh Sheriff Court: “The accused said she had started the fire with her lighter.
“The reason was she wanted to get out of the flat.”
Sentencing her, Sheriff John Beckett QC told Henderson: “This was a very serious crime which had significant consequences for other people, placed your neighbours in danger and damaged property.”
