Workshop was music to pupils’ ears

BUDDING musicians from Williamston Primary School in Livingston were put through their paces by students at Stevenson College Edinburgh during a recent music workshop.

The primary five pupils showed off their musical talents when they were given the chance to try out the piano, drums, guitars, ukuleles and percussion instruments during the day-long session.

Twelve students from Stevenson’s HND Popular and Classical Music course organised the recent event, which took place at the college’s Music Box.

The 64 primary school pupils who attended on the day took part in four music workshops, which included singing, rhythmic work and ukulele lessons.

Music lecturer Scott Hannah said: “The sessions were a great chance for our students to show the primary school pupils some of the different elements involved in creating music. It was also the first taster of college life for most of the pupils.”
