Wreath laid in memory of brave Scots

COLIN Cargill was laying flowers at the Spanish Civil War memorial in Princes Street Gardens yesterday, to mark 75 years since the end of the Spanish Civil war.

The Spanish Civil War started in July 1936 with large numbers of Scots travelling to Spain in October 1936. The conflict ended in April 1939.

Mr Cargill had family members in Spain who fought, alongside around 600 brave Scots who volunteered to fight the fascists for the republican cause.
