Youngsters get to do it themselves

NEW DIY classes for youngsters are to be held in the city to help families spend more time together learning new skills.

B&Q stores are rolling out Kids’ Classes at the Easter Road and Hermiston Gait stores for classes for seven to 11-year-olds.

Projects include making sets of dominoes, magazine and CD holders and toy aeroplanes.

A survey by B&Q showed nearly 50 per cent of parents worry their kids will grow up without having learnt basic practical skills such as DIY, cooking, gardening and sewing.

Marketing director Katherine Paterson said: “It’s important that young people and families get the chance to take some time out and spend time together learning new practical skills, which is why we are rolling out our Kids’ Classes into 50 of our stores nationwide.”
