Sheffield United manager odds: Former Hibs duo linked with Blades job

Two former Hibs managers are among the favourites for the Sheffield United job, according to the latest odds.

Paul Heckingbottom and Neil Lennon have both been linked ith the Sheffield United job

Blades boss Chris Wilder has been tipped to depart Bramall Lane later today, with the English Premier League strugglers calling a press conference for 5pm and cancelling their scheduled pre-match media duties that had been arranged for lunchtime.

Wilder was appointed in 2016 and took United from League One to the Premier League in three years but despite leading them to a ninth-placed finish last season, they have picked up just 14 points from 28 games this term and are 12 points adrift with ten matches remaining.

Former Easter Road head coach Paul Heckingbottom who is currently manager of the Yorkshire club’s Under-23 side, will take the team in the interim, but has also been priced as the 8/13 favourite to land the top job on a permanent basis.

Heckingbottom was in charge at Easter Road for a 32-game spell in 2019 and has had stints at hometown side Barnsley as well as Leeds United.

His predecessor Neil Lennon, who left his role as Celtic boss last month, is the second favourite at odds of 5/1 while ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is at 7/1 odds.

Eddie Howe, who was linked with the Parkhead hotseat, is priced at 9/1 with Sky Bet while Jan van Winckel, the Belgian coach who acted as Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant at Marseille, is priced at 12/1.

Recently departed Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is listed at odds of 16/1 along with former Huddersfield managers David Wagner and Danny Cowley, and ex-West Ham manager Slaven Bilic.
