A 41-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault in Livingston.

Police officers in West Lothian are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted in the Carmondean area just after midnight on Monday 16th July.

A 45-year-old man was assaulted in the street in Camps Rigg having been in Raeburn Rigg a short time earlier.

He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Western General.

A 41-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and will appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday July 17.

Detective Sergeant Lee McCall from Livingston CID said: “This was a violent attack that has left the victim with a serious head injuries. I would ask anyone who was within the Camp Rigg or Raeburn Rigg area in the early hours of this morning who witnessed what happened, or saw anything suspicious, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
