Fancy travelling the world? Barrhead Travel are urging Edinburgh dwellers with a thirst for travel to come and get a job with them.
In recent years, over 500 members of staff at Barrhead Travel have taken a trip of a lifetime as part of their day-to-day work routine and more of these opportunities are on offer for the right candidates.
Employees have been sent to exotic resorts in Mauritius and Jamaica, embarked on cruise ships up the Alaska coast and visited destinations from Durban to Tokyo, to name a few of the far-flung locations that Barrhead Travel have offered opportunities to their wanderlust workforce.
A strong desire to travel the world is required of many Barrhead Travel staff members as part of ongoing training to enhance their destination and product knowledge and allow them to pass on insights and expertise.
Customers are seeking out authentic holidays full of true local flavour which is why, as Sharon Munro, CEO of Barrhead Travel, says well travelled staff are a key asset to the organisation:
“Browsing the internet or flicking through a brochure is a great way to inspire ideas for a fortnight in the sun, but speaking with someone who has been there themselves remains the best way for customers to truly learn about holiday destinations. Now more than ever, holidaymakers are prioritising authentic experiences over fly-and-flop beach getaways which call for recommendations from an expert who has been there.
“Familiarisation trips are integral part of developing the expert knowledge and advice we provide our customers with. Our staff return filled with amazing stories of their adventures and share their first-hand experiences with their colleagues and customers.
“This is another reason why Barrhead Travel continue to expand our branch network – customers can trust and rely on our experts to help them find their next dream holiday.
She emphasises that for potential employees with the right attitude, their travel dreams can come true:
“People who join our family of sales people and work hard can get a chance to make travel a core part of the job.”
A person who personifies the travel opportunities within Barrhead Travel is Jade Semple, Business Development Manager, who joined Barrhead Travel when she was just 16. Since then she has been on familiarisation trips to Dubai and locations in the US. This is in addition to travelling extensively for travel conferences in Berlin, London and Washington DC.
Jade said: “The training and development I have received at Barrhead Travel has been phenomenal since I joined. Sometimes when I’m travelling abroad to somewhere amazing I can barely believe my luck that this is all part of the job. It just goes to show that if you work hard and follow your passion, at Barrhead Travel it can really take you places.”
For those who are adventurous, industrious and want to travel to the furthest-flung destinations in the world, a career with Barrhead Travel could be for you!
